Suppose you lived in a golden age. Would you know it?

Suppose we are living in one now. In some ways at least.

Think about it – despite everything.

Here are some random clever things.

"Wouter "Wally" De Backer (Bruges, 21 May 1980), known by his stage name Gotye (pronounced /ˈɡɔərtijeɪ/ gore-ti-yeah), is a Belgian-Australian multi-instrumental musician and singer-songwriter. He has released three studio albums independently and one remix album featuring remixes of tracks from his first two albums. De Backer is also one-third of Melbourne indie-pop band The Basics, who have independently released three studio albums and numerous other titles since 2002. He has won an ARIA Award.” And I knew nothing about him until I saw this video via my grand-niece Mia Whitfield’s Facebook page.

No need to speak Japanese for that.

Love Amy Tan’s The Joy Luck Club.

Moral: don’t let looking backwards blind you to the wonders of our own age. Every age is golden — or rubbish — depending on where you stand or where you are.
