Galileo, Galileo!

I have been reading dreadful socialist world government global warming scum again.

Just look at what they’re saying now!

We call on all people and nations to recognise the serious and potentially irreversible impacts of global warming caused by the anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases and other pollutants, and by changes in forests, wetlands, grasslands, and other land uses. We appeal to all nations to develop and implement, without delay, effective and fair policies to reduce the causes and impacts of climate change on communities and ecosystems, including mountain glaciers and their watersheds, aware that we all live in the same home. By acting now, in the spirit of common but differentiated responsibility, we accept our duty to one another and to the stewardship of a planet blessed with the gift of life. We are committed to ensuring that all inhabitants of this planet receive their daily bread, fresh air to breathe and clean water to drink as we are aware that, if we want justice and peace, we must protect the habitat that sustains us. The believers among us ask God to grant us this wish…

Three Recommended Measures:

Human-caused changes in the composition of  the air and air quality result in more than 2 million premature deaths worldwide every year and threaten water and food security —especially among those “bottom 3 billion” people who are too poor to avail of  the protections made possible by fossil fuel use and industrialization. Since a sustainable future based on the continued extraction of  coal, oil and gas in the “business-as-usual mode” will not be possible because of  both resource depletion and environmental damages (as caused, e.g., by dangerous sea level rise) we urge our societies to:

I.   Reduce worldwide carbon dioxide emissions without delay, using all means possible  to  meet  ambitious  international  global  warming  targets  and  ensure the long-term stability of  the climate system. All nations must focus on a rapid transition to renewable energy sources and other strategies to reduce CO2 emissions. Nations should also avoid removal of  carbon sinks by stopping
deforestation, and should strengthen carbon sinks by reforestation of  degraded lands. They also need to develop and deploy technologies that draw down excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere. These actions must be accomplished within a few decades…

And so on. But thank God Galileo is here to save us again from such papish nonsense.

Independent advisers:

The Galileo Movement has available expert advice from Australian and international specialists across all diverse fields of global warming including meteorology and climate science, palaeoclimate, physical sciences (physics, chemistry), life sciences (biology), social science (economics), formal science (mathematics, statistics), communication, law.

These experts include eminent professors, PhD’s, scientists and people with diverse life experience including: Professor Tim Ball, Warwick Hughes, Professor Fred Singer, Professor Dick Lindzen, Professor Bill Kininmonth, Professor Bob Carter, Professor Ian Plimer, David Archibald, Professor Peter Ridd, Professor Garth Paltridge, Dr Vincent Gray, Dr Jennifer Marohasy, Jo Nova, Des Moore, John Nicol, David Flint, Andrew Bolt, John McLean, David Evans and Viscount Monckton.**

This group includes diverse opinions to promote healthy debate producing greater scrutiny and rigour. The Galileo Movement does not claim that any of these advisers or our many other advisers endorse all opinions or actions of The Galileo Movement or this web site. Nor is The Galileo Movement bound to follow the advice of all those who provide advice.

Malcolm Roberts has often invited evidence and data from advocates of human causes of global warming.

The Galileo Movement’s patron is Australia’s own Alan Jones. Alan has a long history of speaking out for the downtrodden and for protecting freedom. His innate expertise straddles the fields of politics, sport and the media. His wealth of experience complements the basic science that is the Galileo Movement’s core…

** And Old Uncle Tom Cobley and all, and all…

I was alerted to this fine institution by Roll Over, Galileo on New Matilda.

… Why Galileo? Because, according to Jones and the Galileo Movement, we’re living in a time when objective science is being replaced by "ideology, ignorance and state control". Jones has thrown his support behind the anti-carbon tax lobby, encouraging his readers to attend rallies and share their concerns with politicians. So who is behind the movement?

Case Smit and John Smeed, two retirees with backgrounds in science and engineering respectively, are the men behind the Galileo Movement.

"We care about freedom, security, the environment, humanity and our future" — and we don’t want to pay a carbon tax. Last year, Smit and Smeed organised an Australian tour by Lord Monckton, "famous," they write "for explaining the scientific data, the statistics and the UN bureaucracy’s political fabrication of global warming alarm".

Frustrated by limited media coverage of Monckton’s visit, infuriated by the alleged misrepresentation of climate science, and livid at the prospect of a carbon tax, they established the Galileo Movement…

What a joke!

This mob make Lysenko look like a model of scientific rectitude! Talk about the cart driving the horse! Ideology rampant, but science no way…

Meanwhile in The Gong where the carbon tax does have serious implications:

From yesterday’s Illawarra Mercury

Vinnie seems to have changed since Reminder: climate change isn’t really something you can decide by voting…! Bob Carter and lead balloons seem similar in their effects, to judge from this report:

Carter Confusion #1: Anthropogenic Warming: “In this first installment, we will examine Carter’s claims that there is no evidence that the observed global warming is man-made, and that it is instead caused by the natural internal variability of the climate system.”
