The blogs I don’t update are thriving!

I was astonished to see English/ESL had 415 views today and has had over 500 on three days since the beginning of March. Beats this blog.

So I decided to check the WordPress stats for views in the past 90 days, about the same time this blog kicked off. Let’s start with English/ESL’s top 5.

  1. How should I write up a Science experiment? 4,112 views and lots of comments!
  2. Home page 3,118
  3. Mary Shelley, "Frankenstein" — and "Blade Runner" 1,460
  4. A student’s “Belonging Essay 1,456
  5. The "Belonging" Essay 1,190

The HSC helps, no doubt.

My first blog on WordPress was Floating Life 4/06 ~ 11/07. Here’s its score.

  1. Friday Australian poem #17: Bruce Dawe, 515
  2. Book and DVD backlog 484
  3. Two Australian poems of World War II 440

That was replaced by the blog immediately prior to this one: Floating Life.

And the moral is?  Don’t really know… Except, come to think of it, this blog’s not doing too badly. 🙂

The story on Neil’s Sydney on Blogspot (no longer updated) is sadder. For that I can go to Google Analytics.

In the same 90 days there have been just 289 views from 216 visits!  This post has been the most viewed in the 90 days – 10 views.

Most of the posts on Sydney on Blogspot have been incorporated into the WordPress photo blog.

  1. You are doing something right the first time Neil! It is what you do subsequently that puts off readers. May be your first attempts have a lot of SEO phrases, words! Just enjoy the adulation.

  2. If you are referring to the English/ESL blog, Ramana, there is no doubt that there are a lot of words there that would generate hits from people looking for help with English — and there are a lot of them in the world!

Looking again at the figures I really am happy with the way this blog is travelling at the moment.
